Here we are playing a game called "Race to the West Indies." Who will get to the New World first? Recently we reviewed the compass rose, nautical tools of the Age of Exploration (bummer, no GPS!), different parts of the ship, sea monster myths, sailing challenges, different jobs on board and we checked out and interpreted some primary sources.

Last week we went on an evening zoo adventure! We saw some cool animals, ate some tasty pizza, and despite the rain, had fun spending time together!
Recently, we made some hardtack, the flavorless biscuits that explorers like Columbus ate on their voyages across the sea! This food was popular on board because it wouldn't spoil for quite some time. Some students liked it, while others thought it could use some butter or jelly!
